Arkie K. was one of the seven members who attended the first meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous in Havana (1993)
Arkie K. attended the10th Anniversary and was kind enough to send the poster and picture above for our site. He also sent us the following letter.

Here's a photo of the outside of the 10th Anniversary venue, with the sign saying
"10 Years of Alcoholics Anonymous in Cuba - 10 Years of Love"
The 3-day event was sensational. About 400 attended. The inaugural ceremony involved a torch lighting and a parade of delegates from each of the country's 30 areas, carrying signs like a political convention!
The three of us (Bruce, Ruth and Arkie), who had been at the first meeting in January 1993, were mobbed for photos, interviews, autographs. Felt like celebrities. Did nothing for our humility.
There were many Mexican trustees present. NY's GSO was unfortunately unable to send someone, a U.S. gov't snag at the last minute. GSO has our full report which they will place in the archives, I believe. As it has lots of last names, and is rather long-winded, I won't send it to your site.
